Spring Home Tour 2017

I got a head start on Spring cleaning this year, mainly because I wanted to minimize the clutter in our house. I remember when we moved in, I thought we didn’t have enough “stuff”, so I bought more and more to the point that we had too much.

Realizing some of the things I purchased was on impulse, I told myself no more. I have always loved the simple & classic look, even with my clothes, but was finding myself in a home full of clutter. So I made a conscious effort to get back to the basics so I could come home to a place that actually feels comfortable. That feels like home. I want the things that occupy our home to have some sort of meaning to me, to our family, and not something to take up space. We ended up donating 12 trash bags (approximately), a kids teepee, several vases, and other miscellaneous items, but oh did I feel so good! It took my husband and oldest son 4 trips to get everything out to the car. 😳

But after our house was decluttered, the fun began…Spring decorating!

The Kitchen

Transitioning from Winter to Spring was simple. Just add lots of fresh greenery & flowers and volia! Spring kitchen!

I finally found vintage seltzer bottles that didn’t cost a fortune, so I snatched them up as soon as I saw them. I think they look perfect as with the pastel pink hyacinths for my island centerpiece.

I made this makeshift wreath using only seeded eucalyptus and left over white flower spray that I secured with waterproof floral tape. I love the modern feel of it and it only took me 10 minutes! 😊

The Main Living Room

There is no separation between our kitchen and living room so we positioned the couch to act as a room divider. Also we can put the playpen on the other side making a makeshift baby gate to keep baby K from trying to escape to the kitchen cabinets to pull everything out of them. 😬

I had the coffee & peony pillow custom made from Kendra @sovintagechic she makes beautiful pillows and this is definitely my favorite. The buffalo checkered pillow is from Lucy @mscraftberrybush she also makes beautiful pillows. 😍

I made this spring wreath in 20 minutes using an embroidery hoop. I think it looks perfect on our living room wall. Click here for the tutorial.

I was really hesitant about sharing this photo. I really hate the outdated ceiling fans, but I decided to share it to show you that my house isn’t as perfect as what the pictures I post depict. There are things I want to change and update in our home, but it’s not in the budget right now. A lot of things aren’t in the budget that use to be now with two kids, but I wouldn’t change a thing. I already have the new fixtures picked out, so for right now I am content with what we have. Plus I love the chalk painted mirror up against the shiplap. In the end I’m grateful to have a nice home to watch our boys grow up in. ❤
