Caramel Apple Recipe

Fall is here!! And with that, it’s officially apple season! If you have an abundance of apples from your recent trip to the apple orchard or grocery store (there’s no shame) and not sure what to do with all of them, make this caramel sauce and dip those apples.

My favorite apples to use are Rave apples. If you haven’t heard of them, you must try them! They are hands down the juiciest apples I have ever eaten. My husband and boys would agree. They also have a touch of tartness. I would describe them as golden crisp and Granny Smith came together and made this wonderful apple baby. Yum!

Without further ado, here’s the recipe for my caramel sauce.

Ingredients
1 cup water
2 cups light brown sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp vanilla bean paste
4 tbsp unsalted butter – cubed

Servings: 10-12 apples
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 20-25 minutes

Step 1: Add the water and light brown sugar to a saucepan and turn to medium heat. Stir occasionally (don’t over stir) until the light brown sugar is dissolved. About 5 minutes.

Step 2: Add the remaining ingredients into the saucepan and stir to combine. Do not melt the butter before adding to the saucepan.

Tip: if you do not have vanilla bean paste, you can substitute vanilla extract.

Step 3: Place a candy thermometer into the saucepan and bring the sauce to 225°F. This takes about 20-25 minutes, but it really depends on your stove. You just need to make sure that your sauce reaches 225°F.

Step 4: While the sauce is heating, lay parchment paper on a cookie sheet and prepare the apples for dipping. I clipped branches from my hydrangea bush because we don’t have any trees in our yard. 😭

Step 5: Once the sauce reaches 225°F on the candy thermometer, pour the caramel sauce into a large mixing bowl and allow the sauce to cool for 5 minutes before dipping the apples.

If you haven’t had much luck with making caramel sauce then CLICK HERE to check these tips out from a fellow blogger I found on Pinterest. Her tips were super helpful!

Step 6: Dip the apples by tilting the bowl and rolling the apple into the sauce. Allow any excess sauce to drip back into the bowl, then place the dipped apple on the parchment paper to cool. About 15-20 minutes.

Serve and enjoy!

You can also drizzle chocolate or add sprinkles to make them extra fun. Really the sky is the limit on the toppings. I opted to do caramel only. Less clean up. 🙌🏼

Tip: If you have any leftover sauce, you can put it in a sealed jar and keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. You can heat the sauce in the microwave or on a stovetop to dip.

And that’s a wrap!

I hope you enjoyed my post. Until next time friends. Happy apple picking! Xo
