Simple 4th of July Fruit Jars

First, how adorable are these tiny 4oz mason jars?!? I had all the heart eyes when I spotted them. They come in packs of 4 too. Score! I purchased them from Target, but you can also get them HERE. If you have a Target near you, I would highly recommend getting them from there. The ones I linked are more expensive.

Here is an up close shot. Aren’t they darling? Don’t mind my severely neglected cuticles. 🙂

Second, these 4th of July inspired mini mason jar treats took less than 15 minutes start to finish. That even includes the made from scratch whipped cream. Double score!

I whipped these things up so quick which makes them the perfect last minute treat for anyone that is in charge of the 4th of July treats for your family cookout. Bonus, they are a healthier alternative to cake, pie, or treats packed with sugar.

So let’s recap…

Ok, so how did I make them? If the picture doesn’t already give it away below are the ingredients.

Please note, the amount of fruit listed is enough to make four mini mason jar treats. The whipped cream recipe makes enough for 8 mini mason jars.

Whipped Cream
1 packet unflavored gelatin
2 tbsp water
1 1/2 cup heavy cream
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract

Fruit
4 strawberries
2 cups fresh blueberries

First you’ll need to make the whipped cream. You can also use store-bought which reduces the total time to about 5 minutes. See? Super quick!

To make the whipped cream place the electric mixer bowl and the whisk attachment into the freezer.

Add the 2 tbsps of water to a microwave safe small ramekin, then sprinkle one packet of the unflavored gelatin on top. Use a spoon (or your finger as long…as it is clean) to mix the gelatin into the water. Set aside.

Remove the mixing bowl and attachment from the freezer, attach to the electric mixer, then add the heavy cream. Whip on high until soft peaks form.

Place the ramekin into the microwave and heat for 20 seconds. It should be liquid when you remove it from the microwave.

Turn the mixer off and add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Turn the mixer on medium-high.

While the mixer is on, slowly pour the gelatin into the bowl along the edge. Don’t pour the gelatin directly into the center.

Whip until stiff peaks form. About 2 minutes.

Scrap the whipped cream out of the bowl and I to a piping bag with a star piping tip. You can also just spoon it into the jars if you don’t want to go through the hassle of piping. It will taste just as good. 😉

Remove the tops of the strawberries and cut into cubes. I cut two of the outside edges off of the strawberries to make the strawberry stars.

Divide the strawberry cubes into four equal sections and add them to the bottom of the mason jar.

Pipe whipped cream on top of the strawberries, then add enough blueberries to fill the remaining space.

Pipe whipped cream on top of the blueberries then add the strawberry star.

To make these fruit jars extra fun I put a sparkler on top. Trust me, kids AND adults will love it!
